Thursday Lunch

So I was sitting at my desk eating a turkey and cheese sammich for lunch while looking out my window.  Yep.  We’re definitely late season winter now.  It’s trying to snow but it’s really coming down as a flurry and even that doesn’t want to last very long.  I look into the grey sky and think “These don’t even look like snow clouds.” but it still somehow manages to come down every now and then.

It will be like that from here on out.  It will snow because it’s too cold to rain.  But it’s still February and I’m rushing the season for central Minnesota.  I can’t help it.  February was usually the last month that we’d get this icky bad white stuff down home.  WE used to always joke that “March” was an Indian word meaning “Mud“.  It was always muddy in March or so it seemed.  The guys that I went to school with would comment that their Dads were frustrated because they couldn’t get in the fields to do some work while we concentrated on March Madness and the Iowa Boys and Girls State Championship games.  The older ladies in the neighborhood would be working on their gardens so they could get their peas planted come St. Patrick’s Day.

Oh well.  Six more days left in this month but who’s counting?  OK, I am.

  1. We’re in this weird stretch of 70 degree days but I know this is just nature screwing with me and as soon as I get attached to springlike weather it’ll smack me back down with a winter storm…

  2. Snow’s all gone here, but still a little cool today. It’s suppose to warm up on the weekend. This won’t last but it does look promising. There’s still hope.

  3. Evenin’, Jim,
Have you considered becoming the nation’s official Winter Ambassador? Right now Scott Baio is the official winter Ambassador as a Payback by Donald Trump for his support during the campaign. I don’t think Scott Baio could tell the difference between winter and a lemon flavored snow cone, do you? What does a has-been actor living in a rundown motel in Hollywood know about winter anyway? I’ve heard that Scott Baio is recommending that everyone operating snow plows in snowy areas should be armed with an assault rifle and 1000 rounds of ammo. snow plow drivers in school zones will be armed with machine guns, grenade launchers And flamethrowers… that way they don’t have to worry about being outgunned by the teachers And students. I have no doubt that you would be a better winter Ambassador than Scott Baio!💨⛄👍

  4. We have similar weather here and I’m quite happy about it. We are having a winter picnic on Saturday and it’s great that it’s wintery ❄🌨

      1. In parts. Uphill (ca. 550 m) there is plenty of snow. Downhill (ca. 450 m) about 10 km further there is only little left. But it’s going to be cold (what we call cold, not what you call cold) so the snow that is here is supposed to stay.

      2. We have about 0°C (+/- 5). That’s quite ok, actually. But today it was windy, which was mean, because the wind came from the east. Russian wind is nastily cold.
