About Jim

I think this is the part where you are to write something clever and witty about yourself. I’m solidly locked in middle age and content with myself. I love to travel to see and experience new things, new foods and new drink. I also like to cook and bake mainly because I like to eat. And I found out that I’m pretty good at both. I'm not a professional blogger nor do I want to be. I'll leave that to others while I'll kick back and post whatever suddenly pops into my brain. I'm more spontaneous anyway. And the rest we’ll just kinda sorta figure out as we go along. Feel free to leave comments or even just to say "Hello". Find me at: https://mnghostt.wordpress.com. HarsH ReaLiTy Challenge! My daily life in the south metro of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

IMG_0008-XLIt’s a telework Friday for me.  I love the commute on this day.  I go from my bed, to the bathroom to get some clothes on, to the kitchen to pout a cup of coffee, to my MacBook to do a little surfing before I start my walk commute downstairs to my “office” to start my day.  I check my WordPress and note how many visitors I had yesterday.  I smile when I count that I had “6”.  I think some would have an apoplexy if they had that few.  I’m happy that someone visited.

IMG_0001-XLThe cats notice that I’m up and moving.  They start in with their meowing … or over dramatic acts of desperation as I like to call it … to show me they are starving and abused.  Miss Lily (the tuxedo tabby) is the worst except for Fat Boy IMG_0016-XLwho is just plain lazy.  Getting up to do anything requires effort and let’s not confuse him with any sort of effort other than eating.  That’s just his way.

IMG_0003-XLWe still have snow outside.  We’ve had a front that has pretty much kept us cold or just generally bundled up when you go outside.  It will change soon enough.  This sort of thing happens during this time of year in the 100 Acre Wood.  You just learn to deal with it otherwise you would go nuts.

IMG_0001-XLI walk downstairs with a cup of coffee and logon to our network.  I like teleworking on Fridays.  I don’t have to deal with the traffic and the mad dash drive home.  There are no phones ringing and no one knocking on my door.  I can get caught up and actually get some work done.  I feels like a luxury whenever that happens and that’s a rare occurrence any more.

IMG_0015-XLI like living here; that is whenever it’s not snowing.  I’m close enough to the cities to drive in whenever I need something but I’m also close enough to the country.  It’s a short drive to see that.  It’s too bad they’re building what seems like one house after another in the south metro.  It spoils the view.

IMG_0002-XLI would be hard pressed to leave.  My daughters are here and just as importantly my grands are here.  It’s tough being 4 and not always getting your way, but we do have a good time being together for the most part.  They like helping with my garden.  They call it “farming”.  Who am I to argue with them?

IMG_0017-XLI live just north of what used to be a sleepy farm town in central Minnesota.  I said “used to be“.  Just like anything in the south metro, the cities are creeping southward and things are expanding.  I hate it when I see it.  I used to be able to drive a half mile to the west or to the east or to the south and I could see farm land.  Now it’s single family homes.

IMG_0039-XLSo my telework day ends and I tend to a few chores in and around my place.  It’s no secret that I’m waiting for Spring to actually begin.  I want to see my crab apple trees in bloom and smell the sweet smell that the blossoms have.  It carries on the air like a perfume and lasts for only for a short while, so I try to drink in as much of it as I can while it lasts.

IMG_0008-XLSo the day starts to come to an end.  The sun sets and I watch as the jets come in to and leave MSP.  This is how I live and it’s just another dazzling day in the life of a south metro urbanite.

Yes, that white stuff is what you think it is and it’s not cocaine.

IMG_0005-XLYes, we do have blue skies once again. even tho we haven’t cracked 40* all week.  But that’s all coming to an end as this front moves out and moves east.  No, you do not want to know what the temp was when I got out of bed this morning. Let’s just say that it wasn’t temps typical for Florida for this time of year.

So we once again are on the melting cycle and hopefully it should all be gone by Tuesday.  We will just have to wait and see but I think tomorrow night’s rain, if it actually happens, will go a long way with getting rid of this stuff.  I am so ready to move on to another season.  As one always told me, this is life on the “frozen tundra“.

The sun came out!

IMG_0011-XLBut I do like it when the sun melts the snow and it refreezes.  It forms ice crystals that sparkle like diamonds in the sun.  But this won’t last for too much longer.  Just a couple more days of cool and then Spring is forecasted to be back with us once again.  It should be interesting to watch it rain on Sunday if it does actually rain on Sunday.

Rain.  I love the sound of it.  That and the thunder and lightning that comes with it.  It makes for good nap weather.
