Someone asked me why I haven’t chose a side. I typically don’t say much out loud to people that I don’t know or hardly know. What I will say is this …
Absolutely no one in this country should live a life of fear of law enforcement simply because of the color of their skin, their sex, their their religion, their sexual preference, etc. That’s not what we are about and that’s not how those of us who gave up 4 years or better of our lives in the US military want you or anyone else to live their lives in this country.
I came from a world where we saw things in black and white. It was either right or it was wrong. There was no or very few grey areas and even those that seemed to exist were closely scrutinized. We backed you and each other if it was right or the right thing to do. God help you if you were doing something wrong tho and you knew from the start that it was wrong. There was little sympathy for weak ass excuses. Man up and stand the man.
We failed once again. We’ve lost sight of Dr. King’s message and the dream that he had for all of us and that’s a sad reflection upon all of us. But it’s not the end of us. America constantly rebuilds itself and this will be another rebuilding moment. Maybe our kids and grandkids will do a better job of our future. I think that all of us who remember Dr. King failed him.
