I’m sitting around waiting for a thunderstorm to roll in. It’s getting awfully dark out there and I’m wondering if I’ll be able to get out to the compost yard later on to get rid of those old bags of mulch. I guess we’ll deal with that once we actually get to that point.
Summer is dying here in central Minnesota. There’s still warm weather left for us only there isn’t going to be a whole lot of it. I’m disappointed in my pumpkin patch this year. It appears we had all male blossoms and no female blossoms. Since none of the blossoms identified as a female, the end result will be no pumpkins in the patch for this year. Maybe a different variety next year will work better? I dunno.
I read about people who hand pollinate cucumbers. Maybe that would work for pumpkins, too?

oh I had plenty of pollinating male blossoms, I just didn’t have any receiving female blossoms.

aw, it’s what happens whenever one gardens. there are successes and failures. at the end of the day, we still have fun doing it and sharing the experience with the grands. it teaches them lots of good things.
