Hump Day Evening

The snow and ice are gone.  Now is the time for actual work to begin once again and it starts with raking the yard.  And I keep forgetting just how big of a chore it is for one person.  It doesn’t help trying to deal with it after going thru my little trial by fire last year.  But it felt good even tho I’m now tired, stinky and sore after raking just a portion of the yard.  But it’s no race.  One thing at a time and one step at a time.  I’ll be the tortoise this time.  We’ll get there in the end and that’s all that really matters.

This is my version of cross fit exercise.  My version of preparing for a marathon.  My version of being as active as a I can now.  There are times at night when I lay in bed and try to remember what it felt like to work out every day or run 5 miles a day like I used to when I was on active duty.  It’s kind of disappointing when I sit back and think about it.  It’s an admission of mortality on my part.  I don[t like it.  I prefer to be fighting the dragon once again.
