Everything is asleep around me. My trees. My roses and flowers. My garden. All waits in quiet patience for a new Spring. I bundle up to stay warm against the frigid breeze when I go outside for a walk or to do some outside chores. The wind is reshaping the land by blowing the snow around. The path that I broke so I could feed the bunnies and the birds is slowly being obliterated by being covered with the blowing snow.
I stopped several times to watch the wind blowing the snow around and carving new drifts. Somewhere in the back of my head I heard a piano playing gently and it was soon accompanied by a violin playing. The notes moved with the breeze and the movement of the snow across the ground. It was easy to be lost in a moment of time.
It’s funny to me how a stroke took a physical part of me away yet opened the door to a mental part of me that I forgot existed.
What you said about the stroke? That’s how I feel about getting older. Okay, getting old. There are losses, but the gains are beautiful.

I would never wish this on anyone. but we play the cards dealt to us and move forward. I take it one thing at a time, one day at a time. 🙂

It’s amazing how it takes something catastrophic to give you the opportunity to see the world from fresh eyes and spirit.

you should see me whenever I look up while I’m walking. I end up walking like a drunken sailor down the street … less the booze in me of course. LOL

Jim, I love these thoughtful and peaceful walks you take around your land; seeing all around you with such clarity. It is like being there and see the birds feeding and drifts being carved.
This also stood out: ” piano playing gently and it was soon accompanied by a violin playing. The notes moved with the breeze and the movement of the snow across the ground. It was easy to be lost in a moment of time.” How poetic you are.
I didn’t know you had a stroke but it is not unusual that serious illnesses open doors within you; especially of creative sort and deeper appreciation.

It is … it’s just a bit too peopley for Me at the moment; and night swimming is apparently not recommended lol (we found that out the first week we moved here … my partner caught a baby shark lol)

I can be very extroverted but some switch went off and I’m very anxious around new people and any size group of people. it’s very frustrating for me.
