Five for Friday

It’s that time of week once again where I do battle with my brain for total domination of the world.  OK, just my world.  Let’s see …

1. Yeh.  Hot weather has definitely left us for the year.  It’s cool during the day and kinda sorta brisk outside at night.  It doesn’t stop me from wearing my walking shorts and sandals tho.  It has to be cold out there before I get to that point.

2. Saturday is the annual rivalry game between the University of Iowa and “That Other School” which gives bragging rights for a year.  I usually won’t refer to that place by name but since my nephew does attend it for an education I’ll be nice and refer to it as “That Cow Mechanic School in Ames”.

3. I hate it whenever a holiday disrupts my garbage service.  I can never remember when they’re gonna it up and if it’s delayed a day or what.  My short term memory is still somewhat impaired so that doesn’t help either.  Everything should be back on schedule next week.

4. This will be a great weekend to finish up all of my minor outdoor chores since the weather will be nice and all of my major chores are done for now.  I’d still like to get away from the house sometime this weekend if that’s possible.

5.  I just returned from an early morning walk.  I hate seeing the warmth of summer leave but there are advantages now.  I can feel the crisp central Minnesota morning air on my face while I walk.  I can hear the jays cry, the chickadees sing and listen to flocks of geese flying and honking overhead.  The trees are starting to slowly change their colors.  The leaves are falling off my large crab apple tree and are laying on the ground until a breeze stirs them to move.  The sunrise seems to be more golden these mornings and the skies seem bluer.  Yeh, tonight is a good night to have a fire in my fire pit and sit back in the cool night air.

There ya have it.  Feel free to comment and/or wave a happy “HOWDY!” as you pass thru.  🙂
