It’s “cool” out there right now. I woke up to a rather tropical 50*F (10C) but wore my walking shorts and sandals anywho. Summer has taken a brief vacation from this part of the Hundred Acre Wood. It’s supposed to be back by the weekend but I don’t look for it to stay around much longer after that. We’re surrendering our season to another regardless of how brief it will be. I miss living in a place that has four definite seasons in lieu of two short ones, a usual one and one very long ass one.
Some of my birds will be departing soon. I have a pair of Mourning Doves that seemed to have taken up residence at my place. I’ve watched them all summer feeding at my one feeder and watched as they literally sat inside of it in order to feed. I give them a couple of weeks before they migrate south for that “W” word leaving me with my ever faithful Chickadees, Sparrows and my pair of Cardinals.
My neighbors talk that it will be a long and cold “W” this year and I’m not looking forward to it. I need to order a couple new pairs of fleece gloves and some ear covers. Yeh. I think it’s time to prepare for the inevitable. Good thing I can turn my fireplace on in the evenings to warm up.
