Here’s a question for you …

I have a hankering for some good sea food, some good iced tea and some surf.  So, I’d like to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina even if it were only for a day or two.

So where would you go?

  1. My first thought was the beer cooler at my grocery store as it’s a walk-in cooler and it feels wonderful in this heat. Sooo…. let’s assume the heat isn’t a problem for me. My life long travel destination is England, Ireland, and Scotland. I’ve also not been to the states east of the Mississippi so would like to visit those. With priority given to NYC.Again, not in the summer. We have not traveled a great deal so there is a lot of places I have not been. I am a homebody, so after a week, I’m ready to come back home. Our last trip was a short week in Chicago. I really enjoyed it. We got to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field and then they went on to win the Series! Same team. There is a lot to see and do in Chicago and we didn’t get to it all. It’s a day’s drive away so I wouldn’t mind going back.
My mother grew up in MN and we still want to scatter her ashes on Lake Bemidji. I think she would like that. We once took a fishing trip (Not my idea, but I was outnumbered and I brought a lot of books) to MN. It rained every day we were there and the fishing was bad. We haven’t hurried back. lol

  2. Right here in South Florida where I have lived for the last 25 years (retired). Great seafood, ice tea, and surf. Hawaii is another good place and has the best surfing. Been there too. Believe it or not, I have never been to the Carolinas, but I am sure they have wonderful seafood, ice tea, and surfing. Why not visit all three. ☺☺☺

      1. Good question… Never been to Canada, so definitely on my list. I guess I would hop over to Hawaii then head to Canada from there and have “a good look around the entire country. Then US East Coast, then over to Scandinavia, down to Amsterdam and then to Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Maybe a visit in Prague and Moskow, then to Greece and down to South Africa. From there over to China, covering Shanghai, the Great Wall, Hong Kong once again, then I’d go to Japan and travel Japan a bit. Vietnam and Cambodia… then Philippines maybe and New Zealand. And I guess back home from there…

      2. wow! you’ve put a lot of thought into it. Amsterdam is a wonderful place to tour as long as you watch out for the cyclists and the trams. Spain is fun. I had a really good time in Prague and I hear Croatia is one of the best kept secrets of Europe. you would have a lot of fun just going to those places.

  3. To the lake. Just got back from a week of go-go-go (my brother-in-law vacations like a professional tour guide) and I just want to sit and watch the water.

  4. It’s hot here in Pennsylvania – and I hate it. I would head to New York State, into the Catskill Mountains. I would rent a cabin, eat huge breakfasts, and hike some shaded trails.

      1. uh huh but there are so many wonderful and interesting places to go to. Now if someone said that they wanted to come to Minnesota in the middle of January I’d probably tell them that they definitely have a screw loose somewhere. I don’t want to be here in the middle of January. it’s too damn cold here.

    1. that’s a nice ferry ride to there. I went from Kitty Hawk to the southern tip of the island real early in the morning. caught the ferry over to Ocracoke and went there for breakfast. then I worked my way north as all the tourists were working their way south. it was a good trip.

      good choice!

      1. I like off season because most of the annoying tourists are gone. Wimbledon? too crowded for me but to each their own. I could see hiking in Switzerland tho during this time of year.
