In case you are not familiar with the concept, this is big s**t for those of us that live in the snow belt (or in “The Frozen tundra” as Miss C will refer to it as). It’s a sign that Spring is either on the way or is here since these are migratory birds for the most part. This means things are starting to warm up.

So glad to read of your robin’s appearance and hopefully it’s there to herald spring (not just passing by and enjoying the resort’s amenities!).

it was good to see it but it is Minnesota and God only knows what will happen over the next month or two.

From dru the old female downer chick; “starting to warm up” BEWARE, BEWARE. Don’t start planting yet or put away you long johns, the Ice Maiden appeared in my dreams just this morning and distinctly said….”I’M GOING TO GET JIM YET”.

Need to bathe often?

I guess. I usually have to change the water if I see them bathing it if a lot.

I hadn’t realised until recently that the American Robin heralds Spring. In the UK, our Robin (a different bird), while actually living here all round the year is associated with winter and snow and is put on Christmas cards!
I’m glad your robin has put in an appearance, let’s hope your temperatures increase. What’s the highest temp it can get to there? Presumably still coolish?

hmmm. I guess you have to define “coolish”. I think our temps are similar to Central Europe. I know it seemed to me that the temps were similar whenever I toured Germany and Austria during October and December. Try this link and see if it works:

Fairly hot in the summer months, then. Is it stable heat or very variable from day to day? Here it’s extremely variable regardless of season.

There you are dealing with the Gulf Stream I think and weather from the Atlantic. the weather is fairly stable here is fairly stable given we’re landlocked but we have a number of good storms that brew up over the prairies and blow in.
