New Year’s Eve

Let’s end the old year with some eggnog and rum.  OK, maybe three or four of them.  Let the old year expire and go.  There are new beginnings starting tomorrow and a fresh year.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Saturday Afternoon

I wish I lived near the ocean sometimes.  I can make a fine feast out of seafood even if my cholesterol would go thru the roof even higher than it already is.  But that’s OK since I’d plan on walking up and down on the beach to help burn all of those calories off.  Yep, some day I’ll live by the sea.

In the meanwhile I’m here in central Minnesota getting ready to ring in the new year in my own way with a bottle of ice cider.  One dish for dinner tomorrow is prepped and in the fridge.  The gummys will be here tomorrow and I’ll give them a cowbell each so they can go from room to room chasing away the evil spirits and bad ghosts.  They’ll make one helluva racket but they’ll have a lotta fun doing it.

Five for Friday

Man, this is late.  I had two wee ones to watch, feed and keep out of trouble and then errands to run after their Momma picked them up.  Let’s see if I can get thru this.

1. I normally have a pic that I take to add to my posts.  I’m visual and somehow they just seem to go together when you do a blog post.  Write a post – include a pic.  Yeh, they just seem to go hand-in-hand as far as I’m concerned.

2. Like I told Lisa, I’m making lobster mac and cheese for New Year’s dinner.  Lobster isn’t cheap here in central Minnesota but my grocer has lobster tails on sale every now and then and usually at this time of year.  It’s kinda pricey to make but it eats damn good.

3. It’s starting to be “that time of year” once again.  It’s time to start gathering up all of my paperwork for taxes.  I made Obama happy last year.  Somehow I really, really don’t want to make Trump happy ever.

4. This week went by way to fast for me.  How did it become Friday so quickly.  It seems like it was just a day or two ago when we were having Christmas dinner.

5.  One of my Nativity set figurines became a casualty over the holiday.  One of the gummys was messing with them and one of the Three Kings took a nose dive.  I know a guy that repairs porcelain tho so it will all be made good once again.  The repairs will cost more that what it’s worth but it’s hard to find large size porcelain figurines here in the states and the set has a sentimental value to me.  Sometimes money isn’t what has real value for us.  Speaking of the Three Kings, here’s their shrine in Cologne Cathedral.  See?  I did have a pic for this post.

Hey, we made it!  That’s it for now sports fans.  Feel free to comment and/or leave a simple “Howdy!” if’n you’re so inclined.

Late December

Late December and there’s the sense and the feeling in the air that the winter has definitely set in.  I know what’s in store for us.  Weeks and days of weather that chills to the bone.  It’s almost soup and stew season for me once New Year’s Day has past.  Then we settle in for a long three months but we will fill the air with the smell of homemade beef stew or potato soup.

Thursday Afternoon

It started snowing here this morning.  It wasn’t suppose to according to the weather forecast but when do they usually get that right?  Not that often around here.  Now it’s partly sunny out there and they’re talking some snow later on.  Snow later on?  Ugh!  We’ll see what actually happens later on.

I’ve forgotten how much energy that it takes to keep up with two six year olds.  They wear me down fairly quick and I enjoy “quiet time” even if they don’t.  I wish I had their energy all of the time.
