Snow Day

We were getting some big ol’ Norman Rockwell style snowflakes coming down there for quite a while.  So I hopped out of my work clothes, put on some jeans and a sweater, grabbed my snow boots and headed out for a walk.  Yeh, I’m out of shape.  That became painfully obvious after walking around out in that snow.  But it’s all good.  It was amazing to get out with my camera and take a walk around the neighborhood.

I’m always fascinated by snow falls such as these ever since I was a kid.  And why not?  It usually meant a chance to go sledding after school, building snowmen and snow forts and the inevitable snowball fight.  Maybe if we were really lucky, school would be cancelled the next day.  And if we were cursed, a city truck would drive up the alley next to our house spreading cinders down so cars could have some traction.  That usually screwed up our sledding hill and we’d have to go look for some other slope to sled down.

Yeh, February snows meant basketball was at its height which inevitably led to March for tournament play.  March – in like a lion and out like a lamb.  It’s good for Iowa but not so appropriate for central Minnesota.  Well, there’s not much we can do about that.  So I’ll kick back and just hang in there for now.  I think we’ll use this month to start stirring around.
