Secret Squirrel

IMG_0075-LThis guy … or gal … showed up at my front door last April and has been hanging around April of last year and has been hanging around ever since.  I see it every now and then and it always amazes me that it’s still hanging around.  But come to think of it, there are really no natural predators around here to torment it.  We have no barn owls, most of the cats around here are indoor cats and only my neighbors across the street have dogs.  And they’re indoor or behind a fence dog.

It hasn’t been messing with my bird feeders and it hasn’t found the bunny food that I set out.  We’ll see if it survives the winter.

  1. You give off peaceful, safe vibes, even the animals sense it. What a wonderful doorstep guest to have.

      1. Our squirrels go crazy for peanut butter and bird seed. We nail corncobs to chunks of wood(stand them up) and paint them with peanut butter birdseed(the one with the sunflower in it) The squirrels love it. It keeps them from skydiving the bird feeders

      2. I bought my sister one of them squirrel whirly gigs that you put 4 ears of corn on and they go around and around and around. I brought back two bushel of dropped field corn and she had a blast with it.

      3. I would gauge you as mild mannered, easy going, generally fun, responsible, loyal, moral high ground kinda guy but with a definite “bull sheet” tolerance limit that folks cross at their own risk. Based only on the writing and the photos of course, sooo at best a shot in the dark. I have found your writing refreshingly real.

      4. Hmmmm ok, done although that might not match with your 5’2 single lady I’m hunting for… just sayin’ we may have to make the lady taller to even it out.

  2. I know that’s why I said that I’m surprised that it’s still around. a big ol’ owl would usually get them or maybe a red tail hawk. we just have those around here.
